Chiara Masaro

Chiara Masaro is a Ph.D. student in Social Sciences at the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Education, and Applied Psychology at the University of Padova. Her Ph.D. project deals with the meanings attributed to motherhood and mothering by Moldovan-origin women who became mothers in Italy and experienced transnational childhood or adolescence. In 2023, she obtained the license to join the national register of Italian Psychologists. She began her Ph.D. in October 2021. From June 2020 to June 2021, she finalized her one-year professionalizing internship at the University of Padova, where she partook in research projects on young adults’ psychological well-being during the Covid-19 Pandemic and on the body image and body-related meanings of women experiencing medicalized infertility. Chiara completed her whole higher education in psychology at the University of Padova. In 2020, she obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical-Dynamic Psychology, with a thesis focused on the psychological processes between partners of romantic dyads, and in 2017 she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Sciences of Personality and Interpersonal Relationships with a thesis focused on parenting. Chiara’s background led her research interest in studying parenting and gender roles within families with migration experiences.
