Ivan Hrstić

Ivan Hrstić is a senior research associate at the Institute of Social Sciences Ivo Pilar, Croatia. His research and publications are mainly in the area of twentieth-century social history of Croatia, and the history of Croatian diaspora. In 2012, he held a fellowship at the Central European University in Budapest to undertake research on his doctorate. In 2016, he was an Endeavour Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide. He has participated in a number of Croatian and international research projects, and he is a member of the Croatian research team in the Horizon 2020 CHIEF (Cultural Heritage and Identities of Europe’s Future) project. In 2019/2020 he was a leader of the research project « Sport and Diaspora Identity – linking Croatian diaspora in New Zealand with Croatia through rugby » financed by the Ivo Pilar Institute, while from 2021 he has been a leader of the research project « Exploring emotions in the (re)construction of diaspora identity: Croats in Australia and New Zealand (1945-1991) », financed by the Croatian Science Foundation.
