School named after Assia Djebar (Paris, France)

    Fatima-Zohra Imalayen (b. Cherchell, Algeria, 1936 – d. 2015, Paris, France), known by her pen name Assia Djebar was an Algerian novelist, translator and filmmaker. A Berber French Academic writer she lived from 1980 in Paris, then in 1995, she pursued her professional career in Louisiana, United States, where she taught as a full professor at the University of Bâton-Rouge and was the head of the Center for French and Francophone Studies. In 2001, she left Louisiana to become a full professor at New York University.
