Statue of a Carelian war evacuee mother (Helsinki, Finland)

Evakkoäiti-muistomerkki, the statue of a Carelian war evacuee mother was erected in 2015 to commemorate war evacuee mothers who were displaced during WWII from Carelia. Since many men were at war, women often had to cope alone with their children, belongings and farm animals when they fled the advancing Soviet army to Finland.  The statue was created by Finnish sculptor Juhani Honkonen.
