Helena Blavatsky (b. 1831, Katerinoslav, Russian Empire (Ukraine) – d. 1891, London, United Kingdom) was a Ukrainian philosopher and author, who co-founded the Theosophical Society in 1875 in New York. She gained international recognition as the leading theoretician of Theosophy.
