Street named after Marie Bashkirtseff (Nice, France)

    Marie Bashkirtseff (b. Gavrontsi, Russian, 1858– d. 1884, Paris, France ) was a Russian artist. Of noble family, when her parents separated she travelled around Europe with her mother, with longer spells in Germany and on the Riviera, until the family settled in Paris. She lived and worked in Paris for many years, and died aged 25. One of her most famous works is a portrait of Paris slum children entitled The Meeting.
