Renée Vivien (b. London, England, 1877 – d. 1909, Paris, France) was a British poet who wrote in French, in the style of the Symbolistes and the Parnassiens. Born in London, England to a wealthy British father and an American mother.When she was 21 she moved to France. A high-profile lesbian in the Paris of the Belle Époque, she is notable for her work, which has received more attention following a recent revival of interest in Sapphic verse.
