After obtaining his BSc (Middle East Technical University, Ankara) and MSc in Economics (University of Vienna), Erdem Kabadayı gained his Ph.D. from the University of Munich in 2008. Until 2015 Kabadayı mainly worked on the economic, financial and labor history of the Ottoman Empire. Within the UrbanOccupationsOETR he is pursuing his academic career further as an economic historian, within the fields of digital and geospatial humanities, focusing on the Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria, Greece, and Turkey.
